Ken and I had a fun day on Saturday, just spending time together running errands and being silly. (Brandon was attending graduation parties for friends most of the weekend, and Kathryn was with her dad for the weekend.) We stopped in a plant nursery near our house that we keep intending to visit, but until now, we never remembered at a convenient time. I love it! They actually grow most of their own plants themselves, and the owners are friendly and helpful. These yellow flowers in the photo are called Peek-a-boo plants, or gumdrop flowers. I didn't buy one, but I think I might go back and get one! 
While we were there, Ken took the opportunity for some great flower pictures, one of which became his photo of the day. We bought some tomato plants and a couple of zucchini plants for our veggie garden, as well as some random flowers I just liked. That's usually how I end up choosing what to plant: I buy what I like and figure out where to put it after I get home. Two years ago, we had a pineapple sage plant that the hummingbirds just loved, but it got way too big for where I'd put it; I tried moving it and it died. So I picked up another one for our new little hummingbird/butterfly garden. I also got a few new plants I have never tried: pink pentas, something called "mother of thyme", and some mystery purple flower (it didn't have a tag)!
I'm always on a quest for anything cottage-garden style, and especially anything with blue or purple flowers because I just LOVE them and they're a little harder to find. There are a lot of varying shades of pink in my flower garden, too, as well as a few surprises like my one yellow rose bush, and the orange daylillies that should be blooming any day now!
After we were done playing with plants, we swung by my mom's house because she just lives around the corner from us, and she went with us to explore a nearby antique store. Ken played photo safari a little more, and I had a flashback to my cowgirl aspirations.
We always have a good time browsing through all the neat old stuff. My mom bought a vintage cookbook, complete with the original owner's notes and recipes stashed inside. Ken found a toolbox (not old) for a great price, and we considered buying another vintage camera, but it wasn't in great shape, so we decided against it. I did, however, buy two lovely little teacups to add to my collection. I have great plans for having a fancy tea-time complete with poetry reading and/or listening to classical music as a lovely little time to look forward to during our school days. Eventually, I also want enough so that I can host a ladies' tea, but I want to have all different teacups rather than a matching set. My favorite tearoom does it that way, and I just love it! I got this one with roses on it; it's just so pretty, and I'm a sucker for roses!
I loved this next one because it's blue & white, like my china, and I thought Kathryn would love the double handles. It's actually a little soup cup, but it'll work just as well for tea!
Sunday was great too, but we were called for another NILMDTS session last night. Life is so precious. Please give your little ones an extra hug or kiss from me, and please pray for all families who have experienced the loss of a child.
