Thank you all for your kind words and condolences about my grandfather's passing--or as another blogland friend put it, his "promotion." We do all miss him, but it's hard to be very sad about him finally being face to face with his Lord,after such a long Christ-serving life. In the message at Grandaddy's funeral, the preacher shared that when they talked a few days before he died, Grandaddy said he had no regrets. After a bit of thought, Grandaddy amended that statement and said he actually did have one regret: that he did not surrender his life to Jesus even younger (he was saved and baptized at age 32). I think that says quite a lot about him.
Grandaddy loved to dance, loved to eat good food, and loved people. So I think this would have been right up his alley...
Dinner, Dancing, and a "Cool Stuff" Auction!
Our awesome Sunday School class is doing some fun stuff to help us and other mission-minded folks in our class raise funds! If you're in the Atlanta area and want to come, email me for more details!
We'll have a tasty bring-a-dish dinner, then a "Crash Course in Ballroom Dancing" led by... us! (Yep, Ken and I also teach dance lessons, but we're usually too busy with a zillion other things!) By the end of the night, you'll be able to dazzle and amaze your friends at the next wedding reception you attend -- OK, maybe not that quickly, but you can at least have fun trying!
More fun that evening will be an exciting auction of goods and services donated by members of our class and anyone else who wants to donate to the cause. Some of the brain-storming ideas included: a "Shoot the Hooch" river raft day, guided by a father and son from class; auto detailing; yard service, and so on. Ken and I will be donating a family portrait session, as well as a set of private dance lessons.
The "suggested donation" for the night (including dance lessons) is $25 per couple, which will go toward the mission trip fund, but that fee is totally optional!
Doesn't this sound like FUN!?! We think so, and we're really looking forward to it. Guess this means we need to dust off our dancing shoes before then! {grin}
